"Buck"

A magnificent youg buck came to visit Gypsy and I today. His velvet antlers were hard to see as he ate the corn we had thrown out at the feeding area near Gypsy's 5ft. high cedar post rabbit fence. I went and got my binoculars and checked him out. He was healthy looking and did not seem overly afraid. Gypsy just laid on the cabin porch and watched him eat. Suddenly he turned and ran away. We don't know what scared him. We looked around the woods, but did not see anything that should have chased him away. It was a windy day and sometimes wild animals are a bit edgy with all the wind movement. Later today, I will go out and spread some more seed and corn at the feeding area. The doves, cardinals, jays, rabbits and deer will surely return to entertain us. Mother Nature holds us in her spell, rejoicing at even the smallest frog that jumps around when we water our flowers. There is never a day we don't see some critter to examine and enjoy. Tarantulas are sitting on tree trunks and on the trim around our garage door. They seem to enjoy being around where we are. My neighbor said to put a string on their leg and take them for a walk. I think I will pass on that.
Our Summer days are here already. We have our 95-75 degree days with little rain. We have noticed the absence of mosquitoes, a good side affect of the dry weather. Last year it rained alot and kept our road under water most of the Summer. It has been very windy, with haze from the burning sugarcane fields in Mexico. We will be glad when those fires go out.
We ate eating tomatoes, peppers, arugula, parsley, and peapods growing in our earth
boxes. Fresh grown produce is always the best. The blackberries may make it in spite of the heat. We are in the doldrums of our hot Summer. Like a sailboat sitting quietly waiting for even a slight breeze to move it on its way. We have found a dimension we did not know existed when we felt if we had one free moment in the day we didn't have enough to do. Over scheduling was a way of life and details filled our time. We actually thought we were accompolishing alot. We were still trying to mother when we should have known for the most part those days were over. Live and learn and run away like the buck.

"Fun"

The fun loving squirrels are here
playing in the Angel Patch trees.
Dog Gypsy points
the moves of each one.
There is nothing more fun
under the sun.
Time well spent
so it seems,
filled with so much excitment,
to fill her dreams.
Eyes fluttering.
Paws twitching.
Why is it squirrels
are so bewitching.

"Father Find Me"

"Father Find Me"
I am lost in this world,
not of my making.
How can I be
like the birds in the trees?
Not realizing they don't know
what might be
that will end their singing.
Without one moment of doubt
they sing and frolic about.
As the hand of devastation
moves one inch closer,
let me be free.
"Father Find Me"

"Ego"

Ego please let me go.
Don't hold me so tight,
blinding my sight.
Causing me anguish
and others as well.
Go find your place
in the halls of Hell.
Your masked face,
hiding inside us
sending pain to the light.
Don't think you will win
our being is purely pure.
Our destiny is written
For sure, for sure.

"Fear"

Fear is formless.
It finds me.
Wraps around my thoughts
trying to succeed.
Where do I go, to release its grip?
It pulls me into its power
where my thoughts have taken me.
Find my being stored safely
in the cedar chest
at the foot of times bed.
My emptyness of thought
will send fear screaming.
What holds it?
Who knows?

"Wings"

My soul grew wings today.
Some might think that strange.
The clutter of the world
lost its hold on me.
Things of form are lost,
always lost in the end.
Beginnings can start anytime.
Progress brings surprises
to a stuffy old women.
The curtain went up
showing what was playing
in a life of searching.
Are you getting it?
Grab and hold on.

Footprints"

Can you hear the sound of your footprints?
Turn around and try to walk back in them.
Your feet don't fit the print
left in the sand by years of searching.
You don't fit here and you don't fit there.
Do you have to fit?
Stop trying and just be.
The woods will move in and cover you,
no matter what you do.
Surviving is the trick,
in spite of the suffering
that makes you strong.
Sing your song at the top of your lungs.
Find your footprints and follow them.
