I watched the sun
as its rays darkened my skin
I watched birthdays
escort old age
as my wrinkles found
their places
I watched my death
as it stole what it had to
in dark cold silence
I watched the small
pale blue morning glory
as it grew among the green
on the woods floor
and wondered if it knew why
it was alone
and that I was watching
