Bunches

life comes in bunches
like parsley tied at the grocery store
bunches of all sizes and shapes
beginning as a seed
changing with the earth
thriving along the way
not like us
struggling to keep some part of our life
long gone to the past
not rejoicing in the moment
not learning to accept what we see in the mirror
only seeing the past when youth held us
mourning the loss of smooth skin and dark brown hair
of passion put to sleep in loneliness
losing today because we are wishing for yesterday
seeing only our sunrise
never knowing our sunset
each step we take echoing a yearning
for what we can no longer have
bunches of days bunches of years
tie them well
